Music Pick Of The Week: The Stop the Violence Movement - "Self Destruction"

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana

Released in 1989 under the leadership of KRS-ONE, this legendary old-school all-star rap against
street violence  in the urban communities is just as prevalent today. Spawned after the 1988  murder of Boogie Down Productions member Scott La Rock and the subsequent killing of a young fan at a
BDP/Public Enemy concert, this track spawned a West-Coast companion piece,
"We're All In The Same Gang" via the West Coast All Stars in 1990 and produced by Dr. Dre.
A little piece of trivia:
Legend has it, LL Cool J was unable to record on "Self Destruction", so he ghost-wrote MC Lyte's rhyme.
Here's the complete list of performers on this classic track.
Boogie Down Productions (KRS-One, D-Nice & Ms. Melodie)
Stetsasonic (Delite, Daddy-O, Wise & Frukwan)
Kool Moe Dee
MC Lyte
Doug E. Fresh
Just-Ice
Heavy D
Public Enemy (Chuck D & Flavor Flav)
#RIP to Ms. Melodie and Heavy D, legends no longer with us.
